Valkyrie is a movie about Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, played by Tom Cruise, who plots to kill Adolf Hitler. Although trained to be a loyal soldier he devices a plot to kill after he was seriously wounded in a battle. The operation to kill Hitler however failed on July 20, 1944, when the bomb planted failed to do much harm and Hitler escaped with minor scratches. The coup was quelled by Hitler loyalist and he and scores others suffered the consequences. This thrilling mix of conspiracy theory and German history is directed by Bryan Singer and has screenplay by Christoper McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander.
